Abandoned House on Furys Ferry Goes Up in Flames
Billowing smoke could be seen in the area this morning from an abandoned house that was destroyed by fire in the 300 block of Furys Ferry Road at Twin Lakes Drive off Riverwatch Parkway.
The fire was reported just before 9:30 a.m. Both Columbia and Richmond County firefighters battled the blaze for about 40 minutes. A portion of Furys Ferry Road was shut down while emergency crews were on the scene. As of late morning, some firefighters were still there monitoring hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
