Binge Boxes: A New Way To Binge Watch Movies And Shows

The Columbia County Library offers a new way to binge-watch; with Binge Boxes. It’s like a modern twist on a traditional entertainment product. You are able to check out these Binge Boxes for 14 days. The boxes are family-friendly.

What is A Binge Box?

A Binge Box is a curated selection of DVDs that have a common theme and can be watched in one setting. The DVD collections could be for a specific actor, movie genre, or award season. Most come with 4-6 movies in the DVD collection. Many libraries across the nation have added these Binge Boxes to their library floors to be checked out.

Binge boxes are perfect for a night in on a rainy day or maybe just a day to stay home and relax.

DVDs aren’t the most popular thing out right now, so this is a great way for libraries to keep them circulating.

Examples Of A Binge Box

For example, a box with the theme “Somethin’ Sappy” would include movies like The Notebook, Dirty Dancing, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Never Been Kissed, and When Harry Met Sally.

Another example is “Don’t Travel With Tom Hanks.” The movies that would be included in this box are Captain Phillips; Cast Away, Apollo 13, and Sully.

These are actually boxes included at different libraries.

Or maybe the binge box theme is “All Things Anne Hathaway” This binge box would include movies like The Princes Diaries collection, The Intern, Rio, and Bride Wars.

The Perfect Binge Box For Me

The perfect Binge Box for me would be a box that is “Something Romantic ” themed! That includes romantic comedies, romantic dramas, romantic fantasies you name it. This would include movies like The Last Letter From Your Lover, The Age of Adeline, To All The Boys I Loved Before, and Resort To Love; I mean where do I have to end?

    Barnes and Nobles located in the Augusta Mall, has a monthly book club meet up. It falls on every first Wednesday at 6pm in the café. For more information, click here.

  • ADDICTED TO INVESTING BOOK CLUB

    Do you have a love for cooking and books? While this may not be your typical book club, join the Appleby Branch Library as everyone shares there favorite recipes from cookbooks. To learn more, click here.

  • The Novel Newts

    This Facebook group is a local book club in the CSRA. Each month a poll is used to pick the genre and book.

    They start on the first of each month and stay on that book for 3 weeks. There is monthly meetings/chats held the last week of the month.

    They will announce each new book at the monthly meeting, giving a week to purchase the new book.

  • Augusta Book Swap

    Coming June 3, 2023 will be the first Augusta Book Swap hosted by the Columbia County Advocates for Public Education. You can bring books to gift to someone or you don’t have to bring any books, but you can still find one that intrigues you. For more, information, click here.
