Halsey To Concertgoers Who Left During Pro-Choice Speech: ‘Good Riddance!’
Halsey advocated for reproductive rights while performing in Arizona over the weekend, bidding concertgoers “Good riddance!” as they walked out of the show.
On Monday (June 27), the “Bad At Love” singer responded on Twitter to a fan who was sickened by the number of people who exited their concert at Phoenix’s Ak-Chin Pavilion amphitheater. Per the concertgoers, attendees left the venue when Halsey spoke out against the Supreme Court’s reversal of the Roe v. Wade decision protecting the right to have an abortion.
Halsey added to their tweet, “Downside of doing outdoor venues: no door to hit them on the way out,” with a waving hand emoji.

“If you’re a man in this audience right now, and you’re sharing statistics on Instagram and infographics and saying… ‘That’s really f— up,’ what you should do instead, is you should be sharing stories about how you’ve benefited from abortion somehow,” Halsey said in concert footage. “The truth is that my heart breaks looking out into this audience, because I see so many people who deserve to have the right to healthcare that they need. Who deserve the right to choose themselves in a situation where there is a choice.”
“I don’t ever want you to ever be in a situation where you won’t have access to that… Some of the people I’m looking at right now are going to need an abortion one day, and you deserve that,” she continued. “Whether it’s a life-threatening situation or it’s not, you deserve it. And here in Arizona, you guys gotta promise me that you’re gonna do that work so that the person to the left of you and to the right of you has that right for the rest of their lives.”
Noticing the concertgoers making their way toward the exits, the pop musician added, “If you don’t like it, you can go home right now. I don’t care. If you don’t like it, I don’t know why you came to a Halsey concert.”

Following that, Halsey’s tour continued in Dallas Tuesday night, where she said, “There are people in this building right now maybe who don’t want to say it out loud, that think the subject of abortion does not affect them, right? It doesn’t affect you, it has nothing to do with you. Abortions are for girls online that your mom and dad tell you about right?! Those bad girls who get in trouble!”
“The reality is, one in three people who are child-bearing age will have an abortion in their lifetime. One in three! Look around you, you are in a building full of 15,000 people, so all those strangers that you hear stories about that you think it doesn’t affect you in your real-life — look to the left, look to the right, look in front of you, look behind you. These people who are here, who are singing along to the same songs as you, who are here because they love the same things as you, maybe even you — there are people in here whose lives will be saved because they have an abortion.”
“I can tell you about one I know for certain. Right here,” Halsey said as they pointed to herself.
