You always hear of those drive-through stories where the person ahead of another pays for the person’s order behind them. Well, at a Dunkin’ Donuts in Beaver Creek, Ohio, one customer took this to the max as he paid $4,000 to pay for everyone’s orders that day.

It started when the anonymous donor initially asked for a $1,000 gift card to pay for future customers’ orders. After being asked to come inside by the manager, the donor increased the offer to $4,000. The store’s general manager, Samantha Owens, told Good Morning America, “We were waiting, and they were like, ‘You know what, let’s just make it $4,000 — it’s been a really rough year for everybody.’They wanted to pay it forward in any way they could.”

Owens added, “A lot of people were ecstatic and surprised. They were like, ‘Are you sure?’ And then we had the issue where they were trying to pay for the car behind them, and we were like, ‘Theirs is taken care of too.'”

Forty $100 gift cards were divided equally between in-store and drive-through customers.
