Lifetime recently released the trailer for its Salt-n-Pepa biopic. The three-hour film stars GG Townson as Cheryl “Salt” James, Laila Odom as Sandra “Pepa” Denton,” and Monique Paul as Deidra “DJ Spinderella” Roper. The miniseries chronicles the hip-hop group’s iconic career covering their transition from college to making a splash in the music industry, while also making history as the first women in hip-hop to go platinum.

The authorized biopic features Salt-n-Pepa’s hit singles including “Push It,” “Let’s Talk About Sex,” and “Shoop,” among others. The Marion Van Peebles-directed project also stars Cleveland Berto as music producer Hurby Azor and Jemel Howard as Treach, Pepa’s ex-husband from Naughty By Nature. Salt-n-Pepa alongside Queen Latifah and her producing partner Shakim Compere, James “Jimmy” Maynes, and Azor executive produced the biopic.
