Lil Nas X took his horse to the Grammys. For his debut performance at the awards show, Lil Nas X teamed up with K-pop band BTS, Billy Cyrus, Diplo, and Lil’ Hank Williams himself, Mason Ramsey.

On a stage that spun around, Lil Nas X went from performing in his bedroom to hanging out with BTS who performed the track in Korean. While it might not seem like the most obvious pairing, it totally made sense in the moment.

By the end, Lil Nas X was dressed in full Matrix garb to duet with a not so little Nas, who ended the performance by shouting out Kobe Bryant, who died in a plane crash on Sunday. Lil Nas X also paid a quiet tribute to Bryant during his performance, placing the late Laker’s jersey on a chair in the opening shot.
