Britney Spears Says It’s ‘So Weird Being Single’ Following Divorce
Britney Spears is reflecting on her marriage with Sam Asghari nearly four months after they announced their divorce. In an Instagram post over the weekend, Spears posted a photo of a nun drinking from a teacup saucer with a straw. Her lengthy caption reminisced about her one-year marriage to the personal trainer. “It’s so weird being single,” the “Piece of Me” singer writes. “I’ve had a lot of time to really look back with all the good and bad … I’ve realized I don’t talk to myself that nicely at all … I’m easily manipulated and I wear my heart on my sleeve …”
Changing For the Good
The mother of two says she is “definitely changing all that,” and to do so, by making time to stop and look around to re-evaluate herself and ask, “Is this good for me?” The “Princess of Pop” adds that she likess a routine, but is easily bored and afraid of many things. She then declares: “The way I live my life is mine … I’ve had so many people interfere with that … But to know it’s ok to be selfish with my life and enjoy it is amazing !!!”
As we reported, Spears met Asghari in 2016 on the set of her music video for “Slumber Party.” The physical trainer popped the question in 2021, and a year later, the pair wed in an intimate ceremony in Britney’s Thousand Oaks home. Neither Sam nor Britney have commented about the breakup on their social media accounts at the time of our posting. Asghari, 29, was the one who filed for divorce in August, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Shortly after the news of their divorce, there were rumors of Spears cheating on him with “at least one” of the male staff members at her house.
Despite Britney’s marriage lasting a little over a year, the singer won’t have to give any money to Asghari due to their prenup; this includes spousal support. Spears will pay him out several hundred thousand dollars in order for Sam to sign a confidentiality clause. If he violates the NDA, he will be legally required to return all of that money.
