Cameron’s 6 Best Travel Tips For 2024
In the last couple years, I’ve traveled more than I ever have before. I’m not sure if it’s because COVID kept me locked up for a few years, or I just finally have the time and money to travel, but I definitely logged some miles in 2023.
With that experience, there are a few things I’ve learned that have made traveling WAY easier.
With Spring break coming up, and Summer travel right around the corner, I wanted to share some of my best travel tips for 2024 as you begin to plan your travel.
Cameron’s Travel Tips
1.) Luggage
The first tip I can give you is to invest in some well organized, nice luggage. TRUST ME, you will be glad you spent a little more for something that rolls a little better, has more room, or is just easier to pack. Nothing is worse than having to sit on your suitcase to try and get it closed because it is not packed efficiently. I would recommend a suitcase, and a backpack that has plenty of different organization features. Not only does it make packing easier, but it makes it easier once you get to your location so you don’t have to dig through your suitcase to find stuff.
2.) Organizing Cubes and Compression bags
This one kind of goes hand in hand with the first tip, but organization is KEY! This year, I invested in some packing cubes to use on my trips, and it made my life so much easier. I would separate my clothes into sections or outfits so I didn’t have to dig through my entire suitcase. Another thing I’ve used a LOT in the last year are compression bags. You can squeeze so much more clothes in your suitcase with compression bags. I was able to pack a carryon to spend 10 days in Ireland using this method!
3.) Make a Loose Itinerary
If you’re like me, you hate getting to a new destination and then spending 15 minutes scrolling trying to find somewhere to go or eat. When I travel I like to always have pillars in my day, whether that be breakfast, lunch and dinner, or one activity. That way, you can still explore and go off course, but you have some structure to your day.
4.) Download your maps
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten somewhere and can’t pull up my maps or locations. I HIGHLY recommend downloading a map of wherever you’re going on Google Maps so you won’t run into service issues.
5.) Splurge on housing at least once
If you’re going on trips, you want to explore and see as much as possible, so you may not think where you stay is that big of a deal, but vacations should also be relaxing. One thing I have NEVER regretted on all my trips is splurging for the nicer hotel or Airbnb. Being able to feel comfortable and get a good nights sleep is worth giving up a fancy meal for me!
6.) Use Multiple Apps to Find Recommendations
Don’t just rely on Google to give you recommendations. One of the most helpful travel resources I found in the last year was actually Tik Tok. I found so many restaurant and activity ideas on there for my trips that ended up being great! Just be careful if you find a list of recommendations, that it’s not from a paid source. Look on social media, Yelp, Google and other sites, and when you start seeing the same thing again and again, you know it’s going to be good!
There you have it! These are my 6 biggest travel tips for 2024. Hopefully you can use these and make the most of your travel this year! As the temperature warms up, travel will become busier, and here are Cameron’s Top 6 Travel Tips to have a seamless vacation and trip in 2024.
