One Mom Had Ice In Her Veins As She Protected Her Son From A Bear
One mom had ice in her veins as she protected her son from a bear that interrupted their picnic. A family in Mexico was enjoying what, I’m assuming, was a nice family picnic in a park. It looks like they stopped at a favorite restaurant or food truck, got to-go orders, and headed to a fun spot in a park where there’s a picnic table and a place for the kids to play. I’m only assuming this was the scenario before “Boo Boo the Bear” showed up to ruin everything.
The Moment Is Tense
When I played this video my anxiety level immediately went up and couldn’t look away. I knew I wasn’t about to see a family get maimed because it’s obviously been circulating on social media. The video starts showing the bear on the picnic table chowing down on their food. It is completely cleaning every square inch of each styrofoam to-go box inches away from a Mother and her son. This Mom has ice in her veins.
She Remained Calm
As the video begins and shows the bear eating the family’s food, you eventually see a Mom holding her son and covering his face to keep him calm. She also remained calm in a way that I’ve never seen and was sitting completely still. She isn’t moving a single muscle while holding her child and shielding his eyes. All of this is going on while this bear is inches away from them. At one point, the bear even sniffs the kid and the Mom never moves. The little boy never moved.
What’s The Move?
As the bear begins to move along, you see a little girl remaining completely still. I’m assuming another family member or friend is recording this. They followed the bear the entire time. It eventually hops off the table and moves off into the woods. In such a tense situation, one Mom had ice in her veins as she protected her son from a bear that interrupted their picnic.
TENSE. So, what do you do if you encounter Boo Boo The Bear in the woods or mountains on a beautiful fall afternoon? Well, it depends on what kind of bear it is. According to the National Park Service, if you come across or “surprise” a bear of any species DO NOT fight it. Remain calm and slowly move away from the bear without making direct eye contact. Looking a bear in the eye may be taken as a threat and become aggressive. As you slowly move away, speak calmly to the bear while waving your arms and heads. Quickly pick up any small pets or children as well and keep your eye on the bear as you move out of the area.
What If None Of This Works?
If you surprise a black bear and it attacks, fight back with anything and everything you have! If it’s a grizzly or brown bear, you should only fight back if the attack continues. Never run from a bear as it could immediately see this as a threat which may cause a predatory reaction. You also can’t outrun a bear or outclimb a bear. NEVER climb a tree to get away from a bear. As the fall temps roll in and you feel like going camping in the woods or visiting the mountains it wouldn’t hurt to pack some bear spray just in case. Learn about its effects here!
