Shelter Dogs Picking Christmas Gifts
Shelter Dogs picking Christmas gifts -this may be the most wholesome thing you see all day!
On Christmas Day every year, the dogs at one shelter get a very special delivery! Santa’s Sleigh arrives at Best Friends Animal Society in Utah. It comes piled high with toys and treats that have been donated. The shelter dogs picking Christmas gifts isn’t just fun for them– it brings so much joy to those watching too!
The shelter is in an area appropriately called Dogtown.
This Christmas Day tradition goes back to the shelter’s beginning, according to Chief Sanctuary Officer Judah Battista. It began as a way to include the animals that weren’t in a home, and help them enjoy the magic and spirit of Christmas.
Throughout the years, it became a fun event each year, bringing joy to the caregivers, volunteers… and of course the pups themselves!
The dogs get to have fun picking out their own gifts. Each dog gets placed in the “sleigh” to climb over and through the pile of items and find their favorite.

With so many dogs, it can take about 2 hours for all the dogs to get their gifts!
