Keith Urban Once Paid John Mayer Back In An Unusual Way
Keith Urban had a very unique way of paying John Mayer back after Mayer sold him an expensive amplifier. He delivered a check in a silver briefcase just like you would see in the movies in a spy thriller.
Mayer told Rolling Stone Australia about the payback, “I thought it was a great way of leaning into the insanity of it all. I still have the case. It’s a great keepsake.”
John also shared with the publication how he admires Keith for his ability to play guitar riffs and sing verses simultaneously. Mayer said of his friend, “It’s hard to make people who don’t play guitar care about guitar solos, but Keith is one of those rare few who knows how to make the guitar speak inside of their songs.”
He added, “Part of appearing effortless is that people don’t notice the effort, but he’s doing some really beautiful and fluid stuff that’s way harder to pull off than you might think.”
The pair have been friends for years. They performed together on CMT Crossroads in 2010.
