Walt Disney World Parks Set To Reopen On July 11

Walt Disney World is set to reopen its magical gates on July 11, according to a presentation the company made to an economic recovery task force this week.

The Florida theme park has been closed since March 15 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The USA Today reports that Jim McPhee, senior vice president of operations for Walt Disney World, said the company plans a phased reopening of the park, with the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom opening on July 11. Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to reopen on July 15.

Disney World visitors will undergo a temperature check and be required to wear a face mask and the park will provide masks to people who do not bring their own.

In addition, social distancing markers will be visible throughout the park and Disney’s “cast members” will enforce the rules, including the mask requirement, as part of a social-distancing squad. Also, park capacity will also be limited and not all attractions will reopen right away.

Meanwhile, Disney Springs retail complex reopened on May 20.

Officials in Orange County, Florida, and Governor Ron DeSantis must approve Disney’s plan.

Universal Orlando is set to reopen on June 5 with similar social distancing protocols in place.
