Demi Lovato Sings ‘Anyone,’ Written Before Her Overdose, At The Grammys
With tears in her eyes, Demi Lovato took the stage to sing her song, “Anyone.” At the beginning of her performance, Demi got choked up and had to start over, but she regained her composure to deliver an emotional performance.
As reported, “Anyone” was written just days before her 2018 overdose. Demi said in a recent interview, “I almost listen back and hear these lyrics as a cry for help. And you kind of listen back to it and you kind of think, ‘How did nobody listen to this song and think, Let’s help this girl?'” She also said, “I was recording it in a state of mind where I felt I was okay, but clearly I wasn’t. I even listen back to it and I’m like, ‘Gosh, I wish I could go back in time and help that version of myself.'”
With lyrics like “I feel stupid when I pray / Why pray if nobody’s listening anyway / nobody’s listening to me, anyone, please hear me, anymore,” Demi was clearly in pain at the time she wrote the song.
