National Puppy Day
Happy National Puppy Day! Today is a day to celebrate your fur babies.
Dogs are man’s (and woman’s) best friends. They love unconditionally and spread so much love. Dogs make great companions, and help us feel less lonely. They give us a million reasons to smile.
Tons of research has been done on the benefits dog ownership. Having a dog can help lower your blood pressure. They help relieve stress and anxiety. Owning a dog can help us be more active.
Increase In Pet Ownership
This past year has only seen an increase in pet ownership. Many rescues and animal shelters have seen a huge increase in adoptions since the beginning of the pandemic.
It makes a lot of sense why too. With a lot of people working from home, pets have offered that companionship. With pets at home, it makes you feel less lonely. Especially since quarantine kept us from many social situations. Taking our dog for a walk also helped break up the monotony of the day, and helped us feel refreshed.
Let’s face it. At the end of the day, pets have been heroes for many people during a difficult year.
Personally, my dogs have always provided a sense of comfort. Safety. And countless hours of entertainment. Even on my worst days, I can come home to those sweet, happy, wiggle butts. They’ve comforted me when I cry. Kept me active with our daily walks and constant ball throwing. And they even help keep me warm when I’m sleeping.
There’s nothing like having a dog. Ever heard the expression: “A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”– Josh Billings (humourist). I truly believe that.
So today, on National Puppy Day, celebrate those precious fur babies! An extra belly rub, a little treat, an extra walk around the block.
Here are a few of our favorite dog quotes:
“If the kindest souls were rewarded with the longest lives, dogs would outlive us all.”
“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” Roger Caras (photographer and writer)
“Everyone thinks they have the best dog. And they’re not wrong.”
“Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.” – John Grogan (Author, Marley & Me)
