Munchies Lab Gets The Green Light To Reopen in Columbia County

A few months ago we reported that Munchies Lab had permanently closed its doors at its Walton Way location. The last official day of operation was supposed to be September 16, but ended up being a few days earlier.

At the end of the report and via social media Munchies Lab owners were hoping this wasn’t a goodbye, but more so a see you later. Fast forward 3 months later and they have announced they have a new location in Columbia County and will be back!

Munchies Lab is owned by Patty and Ramiro who also owns Taqueria El Rey in Augusta.

If you have been following them on social media, they updated their profile picture to their Munchies Lab logo with an “under construction” sign over it.. that’s when community members started to think good news for the restaurant would be coming soon and it did!

Another thing that might’ve gave it away that they were coming back is the Munch Mobile car cruising around town.

One of the main reasons for closing was the lack of foot traffic in the area.

They are hoping to reopen in the new location the second week of January. They are currently waiting on the store front sign & menus.

While the owners haven’t announced the official new location, they have dropped several hints on where it will be located in Columbia County. For example, the Munch Mobile can be found parked in front of the location or even from the small video clips via social media.

If you aren’t familiar with Munchies Lab they are known for their creative food choices and risque theme.

Here are some of the items they had on their previous menu:

  • Fried Pickle Roll – Dill Pickle, Cream cheese, Bacon, Tempura fried and covered with Chet dust
  • The Munchies Dog –  Brioche Hot dog topped with french fries, melted cheese, chili, sour cream, diced onions, and sprinkled hot Cheetos dust.
  • And interestingly shaped waffles – if you know, you know.

New And Returning Foods Just In Time For The Season

With the arrival of winter and the holidays, there is one thing you can count on. Some of your favorite restaurants are bringing back all-time favorites and introducing some new foods for the season.

A lot of places will be rolling out special items for the holidays and you will be able to get as much peppermint this time of the year as you do pumpkin in the early fall.  It’s not just restaurants that are adding holiday-themed and new items. Even on a trip to a grocery store or a Wal-Mart run, you will see more and more Christmas-themed and new flavors of foods to try.  Gingerbread houses, the different types of marshmallows for baking not to mention the return on the wall nuts and pecans.

The Most Used Flavors In Winter And Christmas

With all the baking and new foods coming out just in time for winter and the holidays, here are the most used flavors and seasonings around winter and the holidays

  • Peppermint
  • Ginger
  • Cinnamon
  • Cranberry
  • Toffee
  • Rosemary
  • Pumpkin
  • Chocolate

Baking is a big part of the holidays as well.  So when you go to the grocery store, take your time going down the baking aisle.  Everyone else is wanting to bake the same things you are.   So here are some items that restaurants are featuring for the winter and holiday season.  Not all locations will have all of these items, so please check with your local store for availability.

New And Returning Foods For The Season

  • Starbucks

    Starbucks win again with the most new items this winter.  The Iced Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai, Caramel Brulée Latte, Peppermint Mocha Espresso Martini, Iced Sugar Cookie Almond milk Latte and Chestnut Praline Latte

  • Dairy Queen

    DQ is coming strong with the holiday Blizzard game.  The Candy Cane Chill and The Frosted Sugar Cookie.  I think I feel a stop on the way home today!

  • Wendy's

    You can always count on Wendy’s to come through.  This time around it’s a Peppermint Frosty.  This has to be 100% Fire!

  • Chick-fil-A

    Just when you think everyone’s favorite can’t top themselves, they do!  For a limited time get the Peppermint Chip Milkshake along with the Peppermint Iced Coffee and Peppermint Chip Frosted Coffee!  Score!

  • Jimmy Johns

    Jimmy John’s new peppermint chocolate cookie.  Now this just sounds like heaven on earth to be honest!

  • Dunkin'

    Dunkin’ now this is how you do it.  How much of a hero will you be showing up to work with these?

  • McDonald's

    This comes and goes so much these days we have to ask, is it still special.  This is available at participating McDonald’s for a limited time only!

  • Taco Bell

    Taco Bell is bringing back grilled cheese nacho fries.  Now this is new to me, I didn’t know they ever had these but, how about a try this winter?
