Augusta Regional Airport Approved For 2024 Budget Which Will Help Completion of Masters Project
At the Aviation Commission meeting on, July 27, 2023, at the Augusta Regional Airport, the 2024 budget was approved for around $24 million. With this budget approval, more money will be going into the Masters Construction Project.
Augusta Regional Airport is one of the most important destinations during Masters Week. Passengers and planes are soaring through before, during, and after the Masters Tournament.
A few months back, in February, the airport received a $3 million grant from the Airport Terminal Program. The grant would be used specifically for a number of projects, that would be beneficial for all of the traffic during Masters Week.
For example, stretching the terminal area by about 2,000 square feet to make room for passenger-boarding bridges. For about 15 years the airport has had it where passengers had to use walk-down ramps to walk outside to get on the airplane. The jet bridges cost $3 million alone and have already been ordered.
They also have planned for the airport a consolidated rental car facility. It has been under construction since the ATP grant and is now nearing completion. It’s being built across Doug Barnard Parkway, near the entrance to the airport.
They recently completed the extra space that was created to park more private planes near the terminal.
They are hoping for to have the project complete by Masters Week 2024.
