Did you know there is another golf tournament held a week before the Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club?
Yeah, that’s right. Just one week before the Masters Tournament and the Augusta National is already gearing up for patrons. March 29 – April 1, 2023, 40 of the top golfers compete in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship. The tournament was established in 2018 and premiered in 2019. The purpose of creating this was to inspire young women who love the game of golf, while giving them an opportunity to fulfill their dreams in an exciting and rewarding way.
Wednesday, March 29 will be the first round of competition followed by the second round on Thursday, March 30. Both rounds will be played at Champions Retreat in Evans, Georgia.
On Friday, March 31 The top 30 will then move on to the practice round held, which is held at the Augusta National Golf Club. Finally, the final round will also be held at Augusta National on Saturday, April 1.
Here is a list of the past winners from the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship:
- In 2019, Jennifer Kupcho became the inaugural year champion.
- In 2020, the championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
- In 2021, 17-year-old Tsubasa Kajitani became the first winner from Japan of any Augusta National Tournament and the first international ANWA champion.
- In 2022, Anna Davis became ANWA’s youngest champion at 16 years old.
