Christmas eve. Loving couple watching tv and eating popcorn at home, covered with blanket

The seven Christmas movies we love watching over and over won’t be a shock to you.  After all, Christmas is sort of our “comfort” season.  It’s the time of year when we want to celebrate with memories of past Christmases, as well as embrace the excitement of new memories we’re creating with loved ones.  My wife and I finally watched Elf the Sunday after Thanksgiving.  We usually decorate the house and the tree while watching a Christmas movie on the night of Thanksgiving.  With Thanksgiving feeling a little early this year, we haven’t gone as hard on the Christmas movies as usual to this point.  Once the calendar hits December 1st, it’s on.

Christmas Movies You Can Now Stream

I opened Hulu a couple of days after Thanksgiving and saw a chunk of our favorite Christmas movies ready to stream.  In the past, we’ve just popped a DVD into the XBOX.  Hulu has Elf, Christmas Vacation, Four Christmases, and some other favorites that are new to streaming platforms.  HBO Max has other popular holiday favorites.  At least now we can finally get rid of some of the last DVDs we own.

Christmas Movies Bring Comfort And Joy

It doesn’t matter which one of our favorite Christmas movies we put on while we’re cooking dinner or doing things around the house, my wife and I love shouting popular lines from any movie at one another.  That’s all part of the holiday season.  It’s such a fun time of year to wrap up the old year, celebrate the holidays, and get ready for the new year!

My Favorite Newer Christmas Movies

I have to give an honorable mention to a couple of newer Christmas movies.  The Christmas Chronicles on Netflix and A Christmas Story Christmas which is the official sequel to the beloved Christmas film, A Christmas Story.  The seven Christmas movies we love watching over and over are below!

The seven Christmas movies we love watching over and over

  • Home Alone

This was my very first favorite Christmas movie.  I was 5 years old when I saw it for the first time and had it on VHS.

  • A Christmas Story

I didn’t see actually watch this movie until I was 11 or 12 and it’s been my favorite since.  This is also my wife’s favorite and we usually wait to watch it when we’re about a week out from Christmas.

  • A Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlie Brown Christmas is the one we usually start out with, at least for now since you can only find it on Apple+.  The scene where everyone is dancing on the stage is my favorite.

  • Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

This isn’t one that my wife and I seek out during the holidays.  I’ve always loved the animation though.

  • Elf

There isn’t much to say about this one.  Elf is basically the perfect Christmas movie and this holiday season it turned 20.

  • Christmas Vacation

This was the second Christmas movie that became a favorite of mine.  My parents always let me watch it when it came on NBC every year.  I didn’t see the unedited version until I was 13 and WOW.  It was so much better.

  • It's A Wonderful Life

This is another one we don’t seek out but it’s one everyone should watch at least once.  It’s a true Christmas classic with easily one of the most iconic lines to this day.
