Best Buy Recalling Nearly One Million Pressure Cookers
Best Buy issued a recall Thursday for 930,000 Insignia multi-function pressure cookers due to the threat of severe burns.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the inner pots of the pressure cookers have “incorrect volume markings” inside of them, which could prompt consumers to overfill the pot.
“That could lead liquids to be ejected when the pressure cooker is vented using the quick release method or opened while its contents are pressurized,” according to the CPSC alert.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says it has received 31 reports of the pressure cookers ejecting their contents to date. At least 17 people were injured, some with second-degree or severe burns.
The six and eight-quart pressure cookers being recalled have model numbers NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9 AND NS-MC80SS9. The inner cooker pots have model numbers NS-MCRP6NS9 AND NS-MCRP6SS and were sold separately as replacements.
The recalled Insignia multi-function pressure cookers were sold at Best Buy locations around the United States, and on its website as well as through Amazon. They were sold between October 2017 and June 2023.
Those who purchased the recalled pressure cookers should stop using them and contact Best Buy for a replacement of the inner pot and floating valve for signaling pressure.
A statement from Best Buy says, “Nothing is more important to us than our customers’ safety. We’re contacting customers who have purchased one of the impacted products to make sure they’re aware and have clear direction on getting the right replacement parts.”
Customers with questions can contact Best Buy at 888-359-4485 from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday or online HERE or at BestBuy.com.
This is the second recall involving pressure cookers in the last several month. In August, Sensio recalled 860,000 pressure cookers after more than 60 people were burned by contents that were ejected.

Gadgets and Gadgets and Gadgets Galore! These are 13 of the coolest must have home gadgets of 2023.
Some people need a gadget for everything. While I enjoy exploring new gadgets, I don’t really think of myself as a Gadget Queen. But, at the same time, I do love getting a little extra help every now and again. Like when I cook. Cooking is one of my absolute favorite things to do in life. There’s something so gratifying about creating something that looks good, and smells good, and then you get to eat it! The only thing better than that is getting to share it with people. I could spend all day in the kitchen, and my life would be complete.
But that’s not realistic. I am a working mom who does not work in the kitchen. And my kids are old enough to be in sports which has me driving them all over God’s creation every single day. Sure, it’s easy to swing by and grab some fast food for dinner or make them ramen every night. God knows they would love that! But I just can’t do that. It’s not my style. So kitchen gadgets really come in handy in my life.
I hate the idea of cluttering up my kitchen with uni-taskers. You know, those items that are really great for one thing, but only one thing? I make it my life‘s mission to make my life easier with less clutter. And, I mean, it’s a work in progress. I’m not great at it but I’m learning every day. Scroll down and you’ll find a list of must have home gadgets to make your life easier! I found items for just about every aspect of your life, from washing your pet to working in the kitchen.
