Bowling For A Great Cause – Coach Mark Richt Hosts Fundraiser
During Kirby Smart’s press conference yesterday (October 2), Coach Mark Richt made a surprise appearance. Richt spoke at the press conference and announced the Chick-fil-A Dawg Bowl. This is a charity event that will benefit Parkinson’s and Crohn’s disease research.
This event is a VIP bowling fundraiser that will take place on Wednesday, October 18th. It will feature Bulldog greats, and fans will be able to tune into all the action at DawgNation.com.
Proceeds from this charity event, along with donations leading up to it, will benefit the Univeristy of Georgia’s Isakson Center for Neurological Disease Research. The research at this center specializes in Parkinson’s research along with the connection to gut inflammation diseases like Crohn’s disease.
Both Parkinson’s and Crohn’s disease have impacted Coach Richt’s family, which is why he is passionate about the research. His granddaughter was diagnosed with Crohn’s as an infant back in 2015. And in 2021, Coach Richt was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
Richt and his family are passionate about raising awareness and funding for the research for both of these diseases. At the Isakson Center, the team of researchers are dedicated to learning more about the diseases. And they are working to discover new treament methods that can help those affected by them.
The goal for this fundraiser is $750,000. As of this writing, there has been almost $570,000 raised so far.
