Madonna isn't letting the haters get to her without a fight. The singer, 64, sent out a tweet on Monday (February 20) that seemed to double down towards the critics about her "new face" while she was presenting at the 2023 Grammy Awards earlier this month.

The singer took the stage to introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith for their “Unholy” musical performance on Feb. 5 and fans were quick to notice the pop icon’s look — specifically her face. “Here’s what I’ve learned after four decades in music,” Madonna said in her speech. “If they call you shocking, scandalous, troublesome, problematic, provocative or dangerous, you’re definitely onto something.”

People on Twitter commented on her face. One said, “Plastic face Madonna needs an exorcism.”

Another said, “Some have a very difficult time dealing with the aging process." Yet another wrote, “I really wish Madonna never touched her face. There really was no reason. She was going to age beautifully. She’s always been beautiful.” Some even called her face an allergic "reaction to a wasp sting on the face” and called out her "filler fatigue." Fans on social media have criticized Madonna’s cosmetic surgeries on multiple occasions.

The days following the Grammys, Madonna responded to the face criticism on Instagram. She said that folks focused on her face instead of her speech about “the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim.” She then said the “close-up” photos of her were taken by a “long lens camera” that “would distort anyone’s face!!”

The rest of her caption read: “Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45. And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous. I have never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I’m not going to start. I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.”

Now, two weeks later, Madonna is addressing the criticisms once again -- this time on Twitter. "Look how cute i am now that swelling from surgery has gone down," she captioned a photo of herself, with a hat that reads: "SPIRITUALLY HUNGRY."

One person commented, "Here you had us all worried that somebody was busy using your body somewhere else without your knowledge." Someone replied, "She looks like a bad version of a Macy’s parade balloon…" Another wrote, "You are a lot of things lady....but cute is not one of them." Meanwhile, another fan wrote, "Much love, mad respect but stop with the surgeries. They are not making you look younger. You're moving further and further away from looking human. And you're branching out into extra terrestrial territory."
