Lost Episode of Sesame Street Found
A website called Baller Alert revealed that a “lost” episode of Sesame Street has been uncovered. It was apparently deemed “too frightening” and was removed from television. Now, decades later, it has resurfaced.
We all know Sesame Street as a fun place for kids to learn and connect. But, this particular episode was claimed to be too scary for kids. The episode featured Margaret Hamilton, who revived her role as the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz.
According to the YouTube post, this episode did air once in the mid-70’s. Then in 2019, a small clip was released at a Jim Henson exhibit. But now, this full footage was discovered and posted on YouTube.
The episode is from 1976. Hamilton, who is playing her role as the Wicked Witch of the West, is in search of her stolen broom. In the end, she does find the broom.
What do you think of this lost episode of Sesame Street? In today’s world, we definitely don’t deem this as “scary” considering most of what kids see today. But the 70’s were much different!
I will say though… as a kid, the Wicked Witch of the West definitely scared me! So maybe it is a bit too much, even for kids today!
