Dr. Dre Could Lose Millions If COVID Cancels Super Bowl Halftime Show
Dr. Dre could reportedly lose millions if COVID-19 forces the Super Bowl Halftime Show to cancel.
The rap mogul is reportedly fronting the money for the production per TMZ and is set to perform alongside Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar for the Feb. 13th game scheduled to be held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Sources tell the outlet that Dre has insurance to cover the outcome of a cancelation but the insurance excludes any COVID-19 related blowback. The clause falls under the Communicable Disease Exemption which means the insurance policy will not cover Dre’s losses if the show is canceled.
If the show is a no-go because of omicron variant cases rising, the game will most likely go on and the NFL has already considered a backup venue because of California’s strict indoor mask mandate. Dallas’ AT&T Stadium has been considered but a spokesperson for the Super Bowl stated that the game will take place in L.A. as planned per NBC Los Angeles.
