Princess Diana’s life story is headed to Netflix. Per Variety, Diana was set to premiere on March 31 on Broadway, but unfortunately the coronavirus pandemic shut everything down. The new premiere date is now May 25, 2021.

In a statement about moving to Netflix, producers of the show said, “We speak for the entire company when we say that we couldn’t be more excited to finally be able to share our show with theater lovers everywhere. Though there is no substitute for the live theater, we are honored to be a part of the quality entertainment that Netflix provides its subscribers worldwide.”

In order to film for the streaming platform, Diana will be shot without an audience on the Longacre Theater stage. Variety adds, “The producers have worked closely with Actor’s Equity Association, the labor union representing professional actors and stage managers in live theatre, on health protocols to ensure the set will be safe during the pandemic.”
