Nipsey Hussle’s Puma Collection Sells Out In 24 Hours
It took only one day for the late Nipsey Hussle’s Puma capsule collection to sell out. The collection which debuted on Thursday, Sept. 5 sold out a day later, as Vibe reports.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Puma x TMC sales will go towards Hussle’s Neighborhood Nip Foundation. The organization is founded by Nipsey Hussle’s family, and has a mission to continue the Los Angeles rapper’s legacy by “empowering the South Los Angeles community and neighborhoods alike across the globe.”
Nipsey Hussle explained the collaboration during an interview two weeks before he was gunned down.“It’s two sides to it,” Hussle explained. “One side, I’m a brand ambassador for Puma. The other side is a collaborative project with The Marathon [Clothing] and Puma. We’re going to do multiple collections but the first one drops fall 2019, like around September. It’s going to be shoes, apparel, [and] a few accessories.”
On March 31, 2019, the “Victory Lap” rapper was fatally shot in the parking lot of his Marathon Clothing store. Following his death, Puma made an announcement that it would continue to release the collaboration collection in Nipsey Hussle’s memory.
The collection is comprised of apparel and footwear that’s adorned with checkered patterns and palm trees, which is an ode to the rapper’s hometown of LA. It also pays homage to Hussle’s moto, “The Marathon Continues.”
Over the weekend, Nipsey Hussle’s longtime girlfriend, actress Lauren London recently shared behind-the-scenes footage from the photoshoot that Hussle did with Puma. Check it out below.
