Parents in Georgia Could Be Sentenced To Jail For Crimes Committed By Their Kids
Parents in one county in Georgia face up to 120 days in jail and a hefty fine due to crimes committed by their kids.
According to WSBTV, an ordinance was approved in DeKalb County back in 2013 that holds parents responsible for crimes their kids commit after curfew.
While police haven’t prosecuted a lot of parents under this ordinance, that may change after nearly nine thousand dollars worth of guns were stolen from a pawn shop in the area last month.
The crime was committed by four teens at three o’clock in the morning.
Residents have mixed reactions after learning that parents can be sentenced to jail for their kid’s crime. Some think it is the parent’s fault if their child does something illegal, while others suggest that kids can and do take advantage of parents.
