Unacceptable – Are These Really The Worst Places For A First Date?

There is a viral list of 28 places women don’t want to go on a first date. And there are some quite surprising places on the list.

First Dates

First dates can set the tone for the relationship.  It’s time to see if there’s any chemistry and if you want to pursue the relationship further. And let’s be honest, first dates can be nerve-wracking.  Especially if you really like the person.  You want to make a great impression.

And a big part of the first date?  It’s where you go.  Are you going to take them to a casual dining spot? Or maybe opt for something a little more interactive? And of course, there’s always the movies… or maybe not!

Worst Places For A First Date

The list of worst places to go for a first date that’s going around features a mixture of specific restaurants and other activities.  While it’s not in the top 10, things like going out for ice cream or coffee date are a no-go.  Also, bowling, nightclubs, hookah bars, and any bar “just for drinks” are also on the list of places you shouldn’t take your date.

One item on the list is “anywhere that requires a long drive.” This one makes sense though if you think about it.  First of all, you’ll have a long way to ride before even arriving at the destination, and you don’t want to sit in silence. This has a potential to be great for getting to know each other. Or, it could be really awkward trying to fill the silence.

And what if the date doesn’t go well?  Then you’re stuck riding all the way back together.

Response To The List

There has been quite the debate on this list with some saying it basically covers everything and has them questioning what is acceptable for a first date.  But others are pointing out that the list highlights boring, stale ideas and this encourages you to get creative with planning out the first date.

What’s funny is, it wasn’t too long ago that Chris O’Kelley asked listeners for the best places to go on a first date here in Augusta… and some of those top 6 places are on this list.  Hmmm… Maybe we should re-think our first date spots?

Here are the top 10 worst places for a first date… according to this viral list!

  • 10. Wingstop

    We love wings… but maybe not for a first date?  Wingstop isn’t a fancy place.  And chances are it’s going to get a little messy.  So unless you want your date to see hot sauce all over your hands and face, maybe skip this spot for a first date.

  • 9. Buffalo Wild Wings

    Yep, another wing spot on the list! This is a spot you probably want to avoid for a first date too for some of the same reasons as Wingstop.  Also, if it’s during a big game, it could get really loud in there too!

  • 8. Any Fast Food Chain

    I feel like this is a given.  Unless you’ve discussed it ahead of time.  Maybe if you’re grabbing something to go somewhere else, like the park, it might be okay…

  • 7. Your House

    Another spot that isn’t ideal for a first date.  Especially if you don’t know the person at all! If you’ve known each other for a while and have been friends, MAYBE this would be different.  But that’s a BIG maybe!

  • 6. The Movies

    This has been a date idea for ages… and yet, this list shows that many women don’t want to go on a first date to the movies.  And in some ways, it makes sense, because you can’t really get to know the person if you’re watching a movie.

  • 5. Olive Garden

    This was on the list of best places for a first date in the CSRA… and yet, here it is on this viral list!  Perhaps going to a more local Italian place would be a better option. But do they have the salad and breadsticks?

     

  • 4. Chipotle

    Chipotle isn’t life for everyone… and evidently it’s not a great spot for a first date either. But honestly, it really depends on the person you’re dating.  Because some would be fine with any of these places!

  • 3. Chili's

    Of course, chain restaurants are going to be on the list, so this isn’t that surprising.  But there are still many people that love Chili’s.  It seems most of the women who contributed to this list just want you to think outside the box.

  • 2. Applebee's

    You mean you don’t want to go to Applebee’s on a date night? Well, maybe… just not a first date!

  • 1. Cheesecake Factory

    There was a TikTok that went viral (that perhaps inspired this whole list) of a woman who was upset her date tried to take her to Cheesecake Factory on a first date.  Honestly, I’d be fine with that as a first date.  Maybe it’s because when I was going on first dates, I typically lived in a small town where there weren’t a lot of options, and there definitely wasn’t a Cheesecake Factory!
