Courteney Cox Couldn’t Stop Getting Fillers: ‘It’s A Domino Effect’
Courteney Cox is in her natural era — for good. The Friends alum is getting candid about her regrets about going overboard with cosmetic procedures.
Courteney, 58, was scrutinized for years after it became apparent that she altered her face with fillers. The Scream star thought she looked great at the time, not knowing how different her face looked. In a new interview Friday (March 10), the actress says, “It’s a domino effect. You don’t realize that you look a little off. So then you keep doing more, ’cause you look normal to yourself,” she said.

Even after looking in the mirror thinking it looks good, Cox says that she got too many fillers. She adds that to the “outside person,” it wasn’t attractive. “Thank god they are removable,” Courteney said. “Luckily I was able to reverse most of that, now I’m actually just… older.”
Reflecting back on her mentality at the time, Cox says it was a “bummer” she wasted her time “thinking I was getting older when I was really young.” She went on to admit that when she looks back on photos of herself with loads of facial fillers, and “can’t believe” how different she was.

In 2017, Courteney told New Beauty that she had all of her fillers dissolved after realizing that she didn’t “look right.” She told the publication, “I’m as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was.” She added, “I hope I do.”
She became addicted to getting more and more work done, saying at the time, “The next thing you know, you’re layered and layered and layered. You have no idea because it’s gradual until you go, ‘Oh s—, this doesn’t look right.’ And it’s worse in pictures than in real life.”
However, just last year, Courteney explained that she’d been trying to “chase” a more youthful appearance by getting loads of filler until she realized that the public began scrutinizing her new look. “There was a time when you go, ‘Oh, I’m changing. I’m looking older.’ And I tried to chase that [youthfulness] for years,” she told the Sunday Times. “And I didn’t realize that, oh s—, I’m actually looking really strange with injections and doing stuff to my face that I would never do now.”
Cox will next be seen in Scream VI, out in theaters today, March 10.
