Evan Rachel Wood Responds To Marilyn Manson’s ‘Donda’ Appearance
Kanye West’s final Donda listening event last week in Chicago saw accused sexual abuser Marilyn Manson (real name Brian Warner) joining the rapper on stage. A few days later, Manson’s ex-girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood, one of his accusers, performed at Los Angeles’s Bourbon Room and some believe that her choice of song was in response to his performance.
She performed a cover of The New Radicals’ hit “You Get What You Give” last night (August 30), which famously calls out Manson by name with the lyrics “Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson / You’re all fakes / Run to your mansions / Come around, we’ll kick your a–es.”
“I’ve been saving this, but it seems like an appropriate time,” Wood says at the start of the video. As Wood sang the lyrics, she raised her middle finger (at 4:44) at the mention of Manson. Wood later posted the video on Instagram, adding the caption, “For my fellow survivors who got slapped in the face this week. I love you. Don’t give up.”

Rumer Willis commented on the video, “You are a powerhouse warrior woman my sweet friend ❤️❤️”
Another user said, “Warrior goddess.”
Wood has a music group with guitarist and singer-songwriter Zane Carney, EVAN + ZANE, formed in 2018. Wood is best known for her role in HBO neo-Western dystopian series Westworld.
Manson, 52, received a credit on Donda for “Jail” along with rapper DaBaby (who lost his spot on Lollapolooza, among other festivals, for making homophobic statements).
Earlier this year, Wood accused Manson of grooming and abuse on Instagram. She wrote, “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”

Wood and Manson were in a relationship from 2007 to 2010 during which they were engaged before their eventual split. Manson may have denied the allegation, but numerous other women also came forward with their own stories against Manson. Four women have since filed suit against Manson for sexual assault, sexual battery, and more. He surrendered to authorities earlier this summer.
