Burke County Schools Closing For 2 Weeks
According to WJBF, Burke County Schools will be closing down for two weeks.
As of Monday, August 16, the shut down will begin. Within the past week, more than 40 cases of Covid-19 have been reported within the district, with most of those cases being students.
A message was sent to all Burke County Public School families earlier today notifying them of the two week shut down. They also noted that the heaviest cases were at Burke County high school, middle school and Blakely Elementary.
For now, the plan is for the schools to re-open on Monday, August 30. Leaders in the district are discussing virtual learning plans, along with athletics and other factors.
Edmund Burke will remain open.
According to WRDW, Taliaferro County School System already had plans to keep kids home longer than planned, remaining closed until at least August 30.. Glascock County school are to remain closed at least until August 23.
Various plans are being made for a mix of in-school and virtual learning.
