Zooey Deschanel Will Co-Host New Dating Game Show… With Michael Bolton
Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton have signed on to be the hosts for ABC’s The Celebrity Dating Game. This will be Deschanel’s first television appearance since her hit show New Girl aired on TBS (it’s now streaming on Netflix, FYI). Deschanel will welcome the single celebrity guest and introduce the eligible suitors. She will be accompanied by singer Michael Bolton, who is also an executive producer for the eight-episode show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the competing non-famous bachelors or bachelorettes have the chance to guess the secret identity of who the single celebrity contestant is based on clues, questions and parody performances by Bolton.
If it seems like a goofy gig for Bolton, the soft rock crooner previously showed off his sense of humor when he collaborated with The Lonely Island for the “Jack Sparrow” video on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

The Dating Game from the ‘60s showcased everyday people looking for love by choosing their date after answering a series of questions. In addition to the hidden panel, a partition blocked either side from seeing each other, though their voices are not disguised. According to TVLine, The Dating Game originally aired on ABC from 1965 to 1973 with host Jim Lange, then was revived in syndication multiple times throughout the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. Some famous contestants from the classic show included Farrah Fawcett, Steve Martin, and Suzanne Somers.
A release date for when The Celebrity Dating Game has yet to be announced.
