Nataliia Prachova/Getty ImagesMay is Mental Health Awareness Month. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems more and more people started seeking out mental health resources and support. For so long, mental illness has gotten such a bad stigma around it. But I am glad to see people are starting to speak up more about the struggles that so many deal with.
And I am one of them. I have struggled with anxiety and depression for years. Honestly, I didn't speak up about it for a very long time. It's easy to feel like you're "broken" or there's just something wrong with you. But, thankfully, I have talked to my doctors, taken advantage of resources, and started therapy. That doesn't mean my mental health issues are gone. It is still a daily struggle. Something I have to be mindful of each and every day. You might remember, back at the beginning of the year, I decided on the word Mindfulness as my Word of the Year.
The biggest thing is remembering that you are not alone. And there are many resources that are available. Check out this list of Augusta Resources.
I decided I'd share with you some of my favorite TikTok creators who focus a lot on mental health. These don't replace getting help, taking medication or seeking therapy. But, they may be able to give you some great tips and things to think about. Or maybe a quick pick-me-up on one of your bad days!
