Who has the best pizza in Augusta?Β Pizza will always be my favorite food.Β Sushi is a close second, but a giant slice of pepperoni can just really hit the spot.Β I am a fan of baking my own pizza.Β Instead of using frozen pie crust or pizza crust to bake with, I use Naan flatbreads.Β They are the perfect size for one serving and I’ve never felt extremely full after eating four slices.Β I’ve taken homemade pizzas in a few different directions.Β No matter what kind of pizza I’m baking, I always use extra virgin olive oil as my base.Β Here’s how I make my pepperoni pizzas.
Preheat your oven to 375.Β Place your Naan flatbread on a baking sheet and rub extra virgin olive oil on the base of your flatbread.Β Then, rub pizza sauce or a favorite marinara sauce on your pizza.Β Once you like your sauce ratio, add your pepperoni.Β I prefer cheese on top of my ingredients instead of my ingredients on my cheese.Β Cover your pepperonis with an Italian blend of shredded cheese or shredded parmesan.Β Then add a light layer of shredded mozzarella and slide that into your preheated oven for 10 minutes.Β Once those 10 minutes are up, add a little more shredded mozzarella and place the pizza back in the oven on the top rack for six minutes.Β After those six minutes are up, let it cool, slice it up and enjoy your pepperoni pizza!
I have also repeated this process with a pesto sauce base and a buffalo sauce base.Β The cooking process is the same, it’s just about you experimenting with ingredients which can be really fun for you and the family!Β But, since it’s National Pepperoni Pizza Day here are some of Augusta’s favorite pizza spots to grab a slice.
