The Big Game is here and believe me when I say that my wife and I make a separate grocery store run for Football Sunday. It’s basically the last time we indulge and eat all kinds of bad stuff until the holidays. We’ll wake up in the morning and have a basic breakfast like a breakfast sandwich or eggs and bacon, and then game on. We’ll start planning on when to time release dips as well as how we should timeout firing up the grill. Should we do it halfway through the first quarter or midway through the second quarter? Once we figure out the food plan pre-gaming begins with a Bloody Mary or two. I of course expect to be completely hungover Monday morning but it’s totally going to be worth it. Here are some of my favorite meals and snacks to make for the Big Football Game!
Grilled Chicken
It’s the easiest meat to grill and you can take it in any direction. I prefer using a BBQ sauce the we were gifted that’s actually a secret recipe.
It looks like Arby’s sauce but it’s the best BBQ sauce I’ve ever had. We like to add roasted broccoli or grilled asparagus, accompanied with garlic mashed potatoes.
These Burgers
They were stuffed with blue cheese and grilled. We added the same secret BBQ sauce, a stone ground mustard, spinach, a tomato and American sliced cheese. I highly recommend a pretzel bun for any burger.
My favorite…Bratwursts
I have my own recipe that has no real direction. It all depends on your taste. Before I cook the raw brats, I’ll let them soak in a sealed dish while they soak for 24 hours in a poured Guinness while covered in onions in the fridge. About three hours before we’re ready to eat I’ll transfer them to a slow cooker and dump an entire bag of sauerkraut on them and just let them cook. The smell is AMAZING. Throw the buns in the over, melt some provolone cheese on the buns and top them off with the sauerkraut they were soaking in and spicy brown mustard. YUM.
Bloody Mary
In a 12 oz. glass of ice, pour 3-4 oz. of Guinness and then add 2 oz. of vodka. Top it off with basic Bloody Mary mix and add garlic salt with a touch Worcestershire sauce. Garnish however you want and enjoy that super tasty Bloody Mary.
Pigs In A Blanket
Always a classic.
My favorite dip…Buffalo Chicken Dip
It’s going to be a super fun and very tasty Football Sunday!
