Beyoncé Postpones Major Announcement Amid LA Wildfires
Beyoncé fans, hold tight! The Houston-born superstar is hitting the pause button on her big surprise announcement—but for a very important reason.
Many fans were making speculations about a mysterious Instagram post from Queen Bey, thinking it hinted at some exciting news. But late Monday night, Beyoncé shared an update on Instagram, explaining that she’s postponing the reveal because of the terrible wildfires in Southern California.
Here’s what she had to say:
“The January 14th announcement will be postponed to a later date due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires around areas of Los Angeles. I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for the families suffering from trauma and loss. We are so blessed to have brave first responders who continue to work tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles community.
“To join our efforts in supporting those impacted, please visit @beygood. Love, B.”
Beyoncé has also donated $2.5 million to launch the LA Fire Relief Fund through her charitable organization, BeyGOOD. According to an Instagram post from the foundation, the fund will assist families in the Altadena and Pasadena areas who have lost their homes, as well as local churches and community centers providing immediate aid.
Since its founding in 2013, BeyGOOD has worked to create economic equity and support marginalized communities.
This cause is especially personal for Beyoncé’s family. Her mother, Tina Knowles, recently shared on Instagram that her Malibu home was destroyed in the fires. “It was my favorite place, my sanctuary, my sacred happy place. Now it is gone,” she wrote. “God bless all the brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions.”
Though the announcement is delayed, Beyoncé’s fans can take heart knowing she’s stepping up in a big way to help those in need.
