Joe Jonas Jokes About Purity Ring He Used To Wear
Joe Jonas kicked off the new year by reflecting on a familiar part of his past: the purity rings he and his brothers, Nick and Kevin, wore in the 2000s as a symbol of their commitment to abstain from sex. These rings became iconic and were practically synonymous with the Jonas Brothers during their early years in the spotlight.
“When someone’s complaining to me but they never had to wear a piece of jewelry that let everybody know that they’re a virgin,” Jonas wrote over a January 3 TikTok video, where he lip-synced to a popular sound.
“I don’t even think you really know what a bad day is,” he mouthed along to a clip from Russell Crowe’s character in the 2020 movie Unhinged.
In the caption, Joe added, “Triggered by accessories.”
The singer, who wore the purity ring alongside his brothers and bandmates, Nick and Kevin Jonas, also replied to a bunch of comments. One person said they “never expected” him to bring up the purity rings. His response? “[smirk emojis].”
Joe also replied to a user who said they “wanted one because of y’all.” His simple response? “Yes.”
While the purity ring trend was popular among Disney stars, many of them ditched the rings sooner than expected. In 2019, Seventeen reported that some celebrities, like Kevin Jonas and Jessica Simpson, wore purity rings and actually waited until their wedding night to have sex. However, many others decided to take them off before marriage for different reasons.
