How great is it that Cinco de Mayo lands on a Friday this year? While many people who celebrate aren’t aware of the significance of May 5th, the date marks the Mexican army’s victory over the French. The victory ended the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Many people believe the date is Mexican Independence Day, but that is actually September 16th. Either way, here in the United States, we have celebrated Cinco de Mayo for many years. And it’s often a day people celebrate Mexican culture and heritage. Or maybe we use it as an extra excuse to eat tacos and nachos and drink margaritas? No matter what, there’s definitely no shortage of places to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Augusta.
Around the CSRA, we have a lot of great Mexican restaurants that will be hosting special events, food and drink specials, music, games, etc. on Friday. Check out some of the top spots to celebrate below! And for additional Cinco de Mayo deals, click here.
