Food Love also notes that in some cases, the state’s oldest restaurant might not be very recommended. Just because the spot made the tally that doesn’t mean it’s the No. 1 place in the state to eat. The list was really determined by which restaurants have been around the longest, and as Food Love says, the “oldest and most historic place in each state that’s worth seeking out and still serves great food.”
So, which Georgia restaurant is the oldest in the state? It’s the The Pirate’s House in Savannah. According to the restaurant, this spot opened way back in 1753. “The joint is only a block away from the Savannah River, so it was a welcome rest spot when Savannah was a bustling seaport town,” Food Love adds. “Today, The Pirate’s House naturally trades in its pirate history with plenty of nautical memorabilia livening up the interior.” It’s located at 20 E Broad Street in Savannah.
If you’re curious, the oldest restaurant in the world is Casa Botín. According to the restaurant, it was founded in 1725 and “is the oldest restaurant in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records and a benchmark of Madrid’s best traditional cuisine.” Casa Botín has also also served meals to everyone from Ernest Hemingway to Graham Greene.
