David Byrne took the stage alongside Stephanie Hsu and Son Lux to perform the Oscar-nominated song “This Is a Life” from Everything Everywhere All at Once. Though Mitski sang the track for the movie, Hsu filled in for her, and proved she was up for the task. Meanwhile, the songwriter and producer offered more than we'd hoped for during their performance. While both wore all white, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Byrne sported the film's trademark hot dog hands, which added to the most bizarre musical bit the Oscars have seen. Which is appropriate, given the song is from Everything Everywhere All At Once.

On Twitter, one person wrote, "i personally don't understand how you could be mad at a movie that got David Byrne to sing a beautiful original song at the Oscars with hot dog hands on but you do you!!"

As one fan put it, "No matter what else happens, we'll always have hot dog hand David Byrne."

This isn't the first time the former Talking Heads frontman showed up on television to confuse everyone. For this past Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, he sang with the host his 2018 song, “Everybody’s Coming to My House." Cyrus also covered David Bowie's “Let’s Dance” with Byrne. Both performances were accompanied by a band, complete with a brass section, keyboardists, guitarists and backup vocalists.

2023 Oscars Red Carpet: Hottest Looks and Train Wrecks

The color of the night for the 95th Oscars was white, with some pops of color with the oncoming Spring season. While some stars looked like they emerged from a dream, others were washed out by their choice. The Oscars are one of the year's most fashionable events, so you know that the nominees put their best foot (and face) forward on the red carpet.

Take a look below at the biggest winners and losers of the red carpet below:

Worst: Elizabeth Banks

Not quite sure what Banks was thinking, but all this excess fabric, her gown is swallowing her whole. The train seems too messy.

Worst: Zoe Saldana

Saldana's dress is not only boring, but it doesn't fit her right, so the lace details get lost.

Worst: Sabrina Dhowre Elba and Idris Elba

Unfortunately for Idris' wife, Sabrina, this neon green makes her a sight that gave us sore eyes when standing next to the dapper actor.

Worst: Ana de Armas

Not only is her dress boring due to the details being lost in the muted hue, but it does not go well with her complexion either.

Worst: Dwayne Johnson

The shiny rose gold blazer is a little too soft for someone who goes by "The Rock."

Worst: Halle Berry

Berry's dress would have been perfectly elegant and hot if it hadn't been for those gold roses at her hip and neckline. The retro waves don't look great on her hair length, either; we can't see her beautiful face.

Worst: Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain usually kills it, but tonight, the light silver color just washes her out.

Worst: Kate Hudson

Unfortunately for the natural beauty, her lack of makeup only brought out her pale complexion when paired with this cool-toned silver gown, which would have otherwise looked gorgeous.

Worst: Elizabeth Olsen

Olsen's black fringe dress seems all kinds of confused, mixing modern with flapper style.

Best: Jamie Lee Curtis

This nude, sparkling gown looks stunning on the star, who is shining as brightly as her gems.

Best: Samuel L. Jackson

It is refreshing to see the actor in color, and for a metallic one at that!

Best: Jennifer Connelly

Connelly's neckline is what elevates this simple, black gown to the next level.

Best: Mindy Kaling

Mindy looked fabulous in this bright white caged gown! Keeping her neck bare allowed for the details in her dress to shine.

Best: Janelle Monáe

The singer and actress absolutely gleamed on the red carpet in this cascading orange skirt! She perfectly mixes the elegance of her bottom with the playful sexiness of her top.

Best: Michelle Yeoh

Yeoh's fringed gown looks elegant and perfect for the actress, who has been snagging all of the awards lately.

Best: Emily Blunt

Though her dress is so simple, the actress looked so beautiful, which goes to show less can be more when you know how to dress for your body and complexion.

Best: Zuri Hall

Now THIS is how you look like royalty, but with an edge.

Best: Ava DuVernay

The filmmaker looked so elegant and stunning in this black gown with silver detailing.

Best: Cara Delevingne

Delevingne looked perfect in this red gown, which cinches her in at the torso with a nice touch with the shoulder bunching.

Best: Sandra Oh

Going against the white trend, Sandra Oh's mustard dress stood out in the best way. It cascades so beautifully and she looks so youthful, pairing her look with a messy updo and a fun, blinged-out necklace.

Best: Tems

The singer stole the show for the best dressed in white with this fun tulle gown, that just swept us away.

Best: Angela Bassett

Not only is this color just ravishing on Angela, but the movement created through the fabric of her gown makes her look even more beautiful.

Best: Florence Pugh

The actress has been killing it lately with her fashion choices, and this is no exception. Her gown is giving natural yet elegant.

Best: Salma Hayek

The 'Magic Mike 3' star looked incredible in this fun, bronze sequin fringe gown. Her body looks absolutely snatched.
