Here are 5 of my favorite Augusta bars that aren't downtown on Broad Street.  There are a lot of great bars on Broad Street in downtown Augusta and my wife and I definitely have our go-tos.  We like Sole', Metro Coffeehouse and Pub, Stillwater Taproom, and most others.  When we get an opportunity we usually like to hit up a happy hour and you can find my favorites in the Augusta area here.  My wife and I prefer to support local establishments more than restaurant chains.  Sometimes it feels like those are the only kind of restaurants outside of Broad Street.  However, Augusta is definitely one of those places that has a lot of hidden gems when it comes to local restaurants and bars.

Our First Favorite Turned Out To Be An Old Favorite

When my wife and I lived in Greenville, SC we frequented a sushi restaurant there called Tako Sushi.  It was a locally owned sushi restaurant and bar that had just about everything from tacos to sushi.  We eventually had to move to Knoxville, TN because of my career.  Sadly we knew we'd be leaving Tako Sushi behind and would have to find a new favorite sushi spot in our new city.  Two years after that we moved to Augusta, GA.  When I googled sushi restaurant I saw Tako Sushi listed second!  To say I was excited was an understatement.  Augusta is only two hours from Greenville and they opened up two locations here and one in Aiken, SC.  In 2020 my wife and I bought our first house.  Tako Sushi is only four minutes away.

The Biggest Golf Tournament In The World Helps

Even if you have no idea where Augusta is, you've probably heard of Augusta National and the Masters Tournament.  Most of the patrons that come to our quiet little town are here for a few days and leave.  Leaving here during that time, however, feels bigger than Disney World.  You really feel the impact and buzz for about two solid weeks from people coming into town for golf week.  Our local restaurants and bars feel the impact as well which is why most of them are absolutely phenomenal.  If you find yourself coming here for golf or you're just passing through, stop by one of our hidden local spots.  Here are 5 of my favorite Augusta bars that aren't downtown.

Raes Coastal Cafe

Raes Coastal Cafe is locally known as Augusta's favorite hidden gem.  It has a very chill vibe in the bar and out on the deck.  In my opinion, it also has some of the best seafood menu options in Augusta.  For you golf fans, it does indeed sit right on Raes Creek which you can enjoy out on the covered porch.

Sheehan's Irish Pub

I'm not going to lie, but I've lived in Augusta for seven years now and I just found out about Sheehan's Irish Pub in 2021.  When you walk into their establishment it feels like you've walked right out of Augusta.  the Guinness is poured perfectly every time and the food is amazing.

Arsenal Tap Room

Arsenal Tap Room has the best craft beer selection, whiskey selection, and sandwiches in Augusta in my opinion.  If you want a taste of Augusta, go to Arsenal Tap Room.  A simple grilled cheese sandwich will be the best sandwich you've ever had.

TakoSushi

The best sushi in the Augusta area is TakoSushi.  Their restaurant and bar area aren't very big but their craft cocktails and amazing sashimi and sushi rolls pack a punch that'll keep you wanting more.

The Indian Queen

The Indian Queen will give you major chill vibes and the feeling that you're in the woods drinking in a log cabin with your friends.  They specialize in craft cocktails and are always up for a challenge on what to make next.  Go there with any craft cocktail in mind and they'll make you the best you've ever had.  I recommend a smoky Old Fashioned.
