Dave Grohl Slams Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour
Dave Grohl may be known as a “nice guy” in the rock world, but he is taking some flak after his recent comments about Taylor Swift.
Grohl Slams Taylor
During the Foo Fighters’ concert over the weekend in London, frontman Grohl, 55, made some serious allegations against the award-winning pop icon. In videos shared widely across social media, the Foo Fighters singer and guitarist told the crowd, “I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift. We like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.'”
He continued, “We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we actually play live. What? Just saying.” The former Nirvana member added, “You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right place.” It was an unexpected comment from Grohl, who in 2015 declared he was “officially obsessed” with Swift.
Swifties Slam Grohl
Swifties caught wind of Grohl’s scathing comments and let him have it on social media. “so dave grohl from the @foofighters said at his show in london last night that taylor doesn’t play live….i used to love this man sm but wtf? what has she ever done to him? does he hate successful women and why did he have to say that in a stadium full of ppl,” wrote one person on X (formerly Twitter). “f—ing a–hole flop fighters,” hilariously slammed another Swiftie. “Once again men bashing Taylor for literally no reason she didn’t do anything wrong and they feel the need to talk about her,” added a third.
Another user wrote, “this is incredibly odd behavior considering this was an incredibly unprovoked statement.” Meanwhile, some fans believe his comments were related to Grohl’s 18-year-old daughter Violet. One person said, “Some fans have speculated that Grohl’s comments may be tied to the barrage of social media attacks his daughter, Violet, recently received from Swift’s fans after she criticized the singer for flying private.” Another person added, “and she mocked the ai p*rn that was spreading of taylor.”
Swift Seemingly Addresses Grohl’s Comments
Swift herself seemed to address Grohl’s claims while performing for the third night at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday (June 23). The singer-songwriter, 34, took a moment to thank her band following the folkmore section of her show.
“Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band — who’s gonna be playing live for you for three-and-a-half hours tonight — they deserve this so much,” Swift said, according to a video shared on social media. “And so does every one of my fellow performers, and you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”
Swift’s beau, Travis Kelce, also surprised fans when he joined her on stage while performing “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”
