CVS Ends the Sale of Zantac Over Possible Cancer Link

CVS Pharmacy has just announced that it is suspending the sale of the well-known heartburn medicine pill. This is because they contain ranitidine. As People explains, the FDA has voluntarily recalled all over-the-counter ranitidine products from Walmart, Walgreens, and Rite Aid. CVS was not one of the businesses that the FDA recalled the products from, but CVS has decided to pull them to be cautious.
In a statement, they explained, "CVS Pharmacy has suspended the sale of all Zantac brand products and CVS Health brand ranitidine products until further notice."
They also add, "This action is being taken out of an abundance of caution due to a recent Product Alert from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that ranitidine products may contain a low level of nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), which is a probable human carcinogen."
Similar products that don't contain ranitidine, like Tagamet and Pepcid, will still be available.
