Kimora Lee Simmons Blasts The Older Man
The former model saw photos of Aoki kissing a 65-year-old and went into full mama bear mode, feeling that her daughter was taken advantage of. Gossip website TMZ asked Simmons, 49, Thursday (May 9) in New York City, about Aoki's short-lived romance with restaurateur Vittorio Assaf. She doesn't think it was ever a real relationship and even referred to him as "just a toad" Aoki kissed.
The Baby Phat founder added that she feels her daughter was "set up," though she didn't clarify what that meant exactly. Instead, Kimora implied that the four-decade age gap messed with her daughter's head. Photos of the two kissing on a Caribbean beach last month surfaced online. The fashion mogul said she felt a "little embarrassed."
Reacting to the photos online, people did not find the age gap appropriate. One person wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Aoki Lee Simmons kissing on that old yt man was not something that I needed to see." Another said: "AOKI LEE SIMMONS (21) SPOTTED KISSING EUROPEAN PRE HISTORIC FOSSIL ALMOST 5 DECADES OLDER THAN HER." A third stated: "I wish I could UNSEE that picture of aoki kissing that old guy."
One person questioned: "why is aoki lee simmons on the tl kissing a man 44 years her senior." Another person slammed Aoki and said: "Aoki has a Harvard education. She aint gotta be kissing on Jabba the White Man. These new celeb kids do not be about s---. They do not go out and get nothing for themselves." A third said: "I don’t think nothing is cute about Aoki kissing up on some shriveled up old white man…. I know sugar daddy’s exist, but girl you came from money. There are so many other ways for you to make a bag than resorting to this."
Meanwhile, Aoki's father, Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons, said he wasn't concerned. He told the gossip site that Aoki gave him the heads up that the photos would find their way onto social media. He commented, "I’m not gonna kick and scream about her choices. All I can do is offer my advice and unconditional love."
Notably, Russell is 66 years old and married Kimora when she was 23 years old. The former couple have a 17-year age gap and share two daughters: Aoki and Ming Lee, 24.
Moms Of Celebrities Who Are As Famous As Their Kids
Becoming a famous actor, singer, model, or artist takes hard work, talent, and a lot of luck. But for some, star quality may run in the family. Sure, nepo babies are a thing, but when the latent backs up the connections these stars are born with, we have to give credit where it's due.
Some of our favorite actors have given birth to some equally talented actors. The folks who come to mind are Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan's son, Jack Quaid, who we know as the lead actor in The Boys television series. Jack, 32, has been on the satirical superhero show since 2019 and has since appeared in Oppenheimer and in the Scream remake.
Looking up family trees, there are a plethora of celebrities with equally -- if not more -- famous mothers. These women have not only found success in their own careers, but have passed along the superstar bug to their sons, daughters -- and even their grandchildren, too.
Some famous mother-child duos may sound familiar: Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Carrie Fisher, for example, made news when they both died within a day of each other in late 2016. Others, however, may come as more of a surprise as some celebrities are more secretive when it comes to their star-studded lineage. For instance, we had no idea that Meryl Streep's daughter won an award for her acting abilities in theater! Streep has four children, two of whom are actors, one a musician, and another a model.
See below which moms of celebrities are as famous as their kids:
