Augusta’s City Administrator Odie Donald shocked officials last week when he announced he was leaving a little more than a year after taking the job here.
Donald’s last day in Augusta is February 25. He’ll then serve as Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens’ chief of staff.
Augusta Commissioners voted Tuesday to accept Donald’s resignation, but he’ll be leaving without severance pay.
According to terms of his three-year deal in Augusta, he was required to give 45 days’ notice before leaving, or forfeit any severance pay.
Fire destroyed part of the old Augusta Newsprint building on Doug Barnard Parkway Tuesday morning.
The building hadn’t been occupied in a couple of years.
A demolition crew was working at the building Tuesday when the fire broke out. Officials say no one was injured and the cause of the fire was accidental.
Augusta-Richmond County firefighters were assisted by a fire crew from Augusta Regional Airport.
The Richmond County school system is hiring.
They have many positions that need to be filled, including jobs for teachers at the elementary and high school levels.
They need school counselors, nurses, food service workers, safety officers, bus drivers and much more.
