  • Burke County Man Wanted

    A Burke County man is wanted after an altercation last month at an Augusta night spot.  Richmond County authorities identified the suspect as 37 year old Richard Samuel Christian of Keysville.

    An incident report says Christian allegedly attacked a 72 year old customer at Cuz’s Bar and Grill in the 1900 block of Tobacco Road, sending the victim to University Hospital for treatment of a skull fracture and bleeding of the brain.

    Authorities say Christian, who is white, is 5”7 and 175 pounds.  He is wanted for aggravated battery.

  • Officer-Involved Shooting in Aiken County

    The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has been called to investigate an officer-involved shooting Thursday night in Aiken County.

    Deputies tried to stop a driver near Main Street in Graniteville late last night.  The driver took off as they approached the vehicle.  A chase ensued, and the driver eventually got out of the truck armed with a shotgun on Trolley Line Road near Morningside Drive.

    Authorities say the suspect tried to carjack a passing motorists  He then reportedly pointed the gun at deputies and that’s when they fired.  The suspect ran from the area and was found a short time later on Seneca Avenue, injured from a gunshot wound to the chest.

    The suspect is reported to be in stable condition.  The incident is under investigation.

  • Richmond County Woman Found Dead

    A Richmond County woman was found dead in her home early Thursday morning and investigators say she was murdered.

    The body of 48 year old Nancy Phillips was found around 3:30 a.m. on Londonberry Lane.

    The cause and manner of her death have not been released yet.

    Phillip’s murder was the third in the past week in Richmond County, and the fifth since the beginning of the new year.

  • Richmond County Schools Locked Down

    Three Richmond County schools were placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a shooting was reported in the area.

    The incident was reported at 1:45 p.m. in the 2000 block of First Avenue.

    A man was shot in the leg while walking down First Avenue and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

    Jenkins White Elementary, Murphey Middle and Josey High Schools were all placed on lockdown when the shooting was reported.

    Extra security was on hand at each during dismissal time later in the afternoon.

  • Augusta Greenjackets Job Fair

    The Augusta GreenJackets are looking for workers for their upcoming spring season and they’re hosting a job fair this weekend.

    It will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at SRP Park in North Augusta.

    You must be at least 16 to apply for any of the game day positions available.  In-person interviews will be done during the job fair.

    You can apply online before you go.

    Opening day for the Greenjackets at SRP Park is April 19.
