It's funny how when we were young, we thought 30 was SO old, right?  Now that I'm past the big 3-0, it's not so bad.  In fact, when I turned 30, it didn't really bother me.  Although there are times that I'm like, where did my 20s go?! Anyone else?

I've often heard that the 30s are when you really start settling into things, and have a better grasp at life.  I'm not 100 percent sure on that one.  Maybe it's because I don't feel my age.  But I often find myself looking for an "adult" to help me with something... Like I'm still a child!  While my life isn't fully "together" by any means, I've definitely come a long way since my twenties.  I made a lot of stupid decisions, and didn't always take the best care of myself-- physically and mentally.

But, you live and you learn.  That's life.  And then you stumble upon a "Guide To Turning 30," and it is a little bit of an eye-opener.  Even though I'm past 30, there are definitely some things on this list I need to work on.

VICE put together this great "turning 30" list, and I just wish it had been around for me before I hit that milestone!  The author of the list did her research... meaning she asked around, and gathered knowledge from many friends and strangers online. So, don't take this TOO hard! She also highlights that she's turning 30 this year and describes it as "terrifying."

Maybe it's because I'm "old" but there's nothing terrifying about 30.  And you DON'T have to have your life figured out by now. Because I promise you... I don't.  But sometimes that's what makes life FUN!  A new adventure every day.  Don't get me wrong, I definitely want to get to know myself better and be the absolute best version of myself- but that's a practice!

So, here are a few of VICE's Things You Should Start Doing Before You Turn 30:

Look After Your Skin Properly

Keyword here is properly.  And believe me... I wish I'd been kinder to my skin in my teens and 20s! I'm still not the best when it comes to skin care.  For the longest I struggled with acne, then it was acne and fine lines... Now with the acne gone, I'm searching for the best products for wrinkles, that won't break the bank!

Learn Basic Cooking Skills

I'm pretty good in this department.  Not a chef by any means... I'm too picky for that!  But I can put together some pretty good basic meals!

Go to Therapy

I did go to see the counselor while in college for a short time.  But until the end of last year, I hadn't taken the steps to get into therapy.  But I'm there now.  And I'm a firm believer that sometimes we need someone to help us sort out life's crazies!

Hack Your Hangovers

Whew, that would've been good to learn in my late 20s and into my 30s.  My hangovers definitely got worse as I got older.  For right now, I'm almost 8 months sober, so no hangover worries for me at this point.

Invest In Sewing Materials

I have a few needles and some thread.  I'm not going to be a master seamstress-- but I can sew a button back on, and occasionally close up a ripped seams.

Get Botox and Fillers

Nope!  I'm really NOT wanting to go down this route at all.  That's why I'm on a desperate search for great skin care!

Make AND KEEP Plans

Ah, this is one I always need to be mindful of.  It's easy to get excited about something, then as the event gets closer I want to bail!

Buy a Set of Tools

This is a good tip.  You never know when you might need to fix something... (and trust me, some tools and YouTube videos will be your best friends)

Take More Photos

I've actually probably stopped taking as many photos.  While I love to look back on the memories, they say you remember more when you're actually PRESENT, instead of watching it all through your phone/camera lens.

Get A Grip on Taxes

Haha.  Yeah, right!  Who understands taxes?  And also... who else stresses like crazy and procrastinates til the last minute?  Just me... okay then.
