Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion, exclusively on Disney+.

There’s only one episode left of Disney+’s Nick Fury series, Secret Invasion. If you have yet to start the six-episode-long show, we’ve got to ask: why? The show has a star-studded cast, with Samuel L. Jackson as the show’s lead, Nick Fury. Joining him is Ben Mendelsohn reprising his role as the Skrull, Talos. Don Cheadle also reprises his role as Colonel “Rhodey” Rhodes, while Cobie Smulders is Agent Maria Hill, Martin Freeman is Agent Everett K. Ross.

New to the Marvel Universe is Dermot Mulroney as President Ritson. Other newcomers to the franchise are Charlyne Woodard as Priscilla Fury (Nick’s wife), Emilia Clarke as G’iah (Talos’ daughter), Olivia Colman as Sonya Falswworth, Killian Scott as Pagon, and Christopher Mcdonald as Chris Stearns. And the show’s main villain, Ben-Adir’s Skrull Gravik. Besides the fantastic cast, the show itself is dark, gritty, suspenseful, and a thrilling action series.

Gravik, among many other Skrulls, have been living on earth for years. And he has successfully discovered how to give Skrulls powers, beyond their shape-shifting abilities, making “Super Skrulls.” As part of his plan to have the Skrulls take over Earth, he has also successfully manipulated Russia and the US to believe each other wants to go to war. Each episode will have you guessing at every turn who is a Skrull or not or who is a double agent.

Here are just five great reasons to catch up with Secret Invasion. New episodes premiere on Wednesdays at 3 am ET on Disney+. The last episode of the first season streams on July 26.

  • It's Not A Multi-Verse

There are no alternate timelines, there’s none of the cosmic stuff that bogged down the recent Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania or Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness films. Nick Fury isn’t a superhero — he’s just a fearless agent that will do whatever it takes to save humanity from extinction, all while trying to help out his Skrull buddies. You don’t even need too much MCU prior knowledge, but we’d definitely recommend that you at least watch Captain Marvel. It also references “The Blip” from Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

  • Samuel L. Jackson Is Awesome

We’ve seen Nick Fury in plenty of Marvel movies, but this time, we get to dig more and learn so much of his backstory — how he met his wife, why he stayed on off earth for so long post-blip, and what ideals he holds close to him. Plus, with Samuel L. Jackson behind the character, we get some hilarious and bada– lines that were made just for him! He shares some great scenes with both Mendelsohn and Cheadle.

  • The Power of Friendship/Family

With Jackson and Mendelsohn as co-leads in the series, we see how their friendship stands the test of time since they first met in 2019’s Captain Marvel (which took place in the 1990s). Despite being two different species, they remain loyal friends. Then, when it comes to family (Fury and his wife, Talos and G’iah), we see that although there may be hurt, love can be strong enough to mend even the most frayed relationships.

  • Olivia Colman and Kingsley Ben-Adir Are Fantastic

Colman’s Sonya is delightfully cheeky, cold, and bold as the high-ranking MI6 agent. Her character is throroughly entertaining to watch — she can be sweet even when doing bone-chilling stuff. Meanwhile, Ben-Adir makes a fantastic villain as Gravik, the leader of a group of rebel Skrulls. He is cold in a more menacing way, conveying a brutal leader with no remorse for killing anyone who stands in his way. Kingsley’s Gravik is the type of character who is cunning and stops at nothing to make his plans come to fruition. We also can’t help sympathize with him as we learn of his backstory as well.

  • Keeps You Sharp

When it comes to who to trust, this series really makes you think anybody can betray you. When Skrulls have the power to shapeshift into, say, your loved one, it is too easy to believe it to be true. Secret Invasion makes you question things at face value, because not everything is exactly what it seems.
