I have to watch my five favorite Thanksgiving movies the week of the big turkey day every year.  Once Halloween ends, I get more into fall.  A lot of people get right into Christmas and while there’s nothing wrong with that, there are so many fun things to embrace in the fall like the foliage, weather, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and more!  There’s always plenty to do and plenty to watch between October 31st and Thanksgiving that will build you right up to celebrating Christmas.  I like to cap off Thanksgiving by watching some of my favorite shows and movies.

TV Show Thanksgiving Episodes

Holiday programming of specific shows is some of the funniest content to watch.  For Thanksgiving, I like watching all of the New Girl Thanksgiving episodes or the Friends Thanksgiving episodes.  Gilmore Girls is also pleasant to watch if you start in the fall season.  In fact, Gilmore Girls takes place in every season multiple times which doesn’t happen a lot these days. If you’re looking for some fall content or Thanksgiving content, just search for corresponding episodes of your favorite shows.

Thanksgiving Movies

There are basically movies for each major Holiday and we definitely watch the most holiday content in the last three months of the year.  When October hits I always want to watch all of the horror movies and true crime documentaries I can find.  I can never fulfill my need for spooky content because there’s so much of it.  Once Halloween’s over I’m done with it though.   I compare the content overload to Christmas a little bit, but I also that as long as I watch the same five movies at least four or five times I’ll be ok.  For Thanksgiving though, I just need to watch a handful of movies one time with the parade thrown in there and I’m good.  I have to watch my five favorite Thanksgiving movies the week of the big turkey day every year.

Whole Homemade Thanksgiving Turkey with All the Sides

  • Addams Family Values

Wednesday and Pugsley are sent off to summer camp where they are forced to socialize with other kids they have no interest in.  During their time there, the camp puts on a Thanksgiving play where chaos unfolds in front of the parents.

  • Miracle On 34th Street

I like watching this right after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  The movie opens with the little girl watching the parade out of her window as her Mom scrambles to find a new Santa for the parade. To me it’s the perfect cinematic transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

  • A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

It’s always a must-watch and despite being 50 years old, it still holds up.  Unfortunately, you can only watch it on Apple+ now.

  • Spider-Man

I’ve always considered Spider-Man a Thanksgiving movie because there’s a big character turning point in the scene.  The Green Goblin also makes his public appearance at a big parade.

  • Holidate

Holidate is my most recent add to my must-watch list.  It’s a hilarious rom-com and actually covers all holidays.
