I came across a playlist of wedding songs recently and chances are that you will definitely hear these songs at the next wedding you attend.  My wife and I are in wedding mode this week.  We get to watch a friend tie the knot with a woman he is absolutely crazy about.  The two were meant to be together and they are so perfect for each other.  This is going to be one of those weddings where everybody knows everybody.  There will be a bourbon happy hour before the ceremony.  After the “I do’s”, the vibe already is that it’s going to be the biggest party in the world.  This will be my and my wife’s seventh wedding we’re attending since we got married in 2015.  It seems a bit cheesy, but I always reminisce over our wedding day whenever we attend another wedding even though I hardly remember it.

My wife and I had a lot of fun planning our wedding in Knoxville, TN.  Once we were two or three days from the wedding, for some reason my brain went to complete mush.  Most of her family already lived in Tennessee and all of mine were coming in from South Carolina and Ohio so I was helping wrangle them.  People will often say that it’s your wedding day and everything will work out.  As someone who’s job includes planning events, and who was marrying someone who’s also very experienced in event planning, it’s hard to just “let it happen.”  We did and everything was fine.  It was a real party once the reception really started and the DJ got to our party playlist.  I expect nothing less from the wedding we’re going to this weekend.  Chances are you will definitely hear these songs at the next wedding you attend.

  • "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", Whiney Houston

This was one of the first songs I ever danced to with my wife.  It’s also her favorite and still gets a reception going.

  • "Marry You", Bruno Mars

I always forget about this Bruno Mars song.  It was never a radio single but is clearly one of his best.

  • "Yeah!", Usher feat. Lil Jon and Ludacris

When this song comes on at a wedding reception, it could be that time of night you have a hard time referencing the next morning.  Always fire though.

  • "Shut Up And Dance", Walk The Moon

I was shocked that this was on the list.  It’s one of my favorite songs and definitely fills up the dance floor.

  • "Perfect", Ed Sheeran

It’s literally the perfect wedding song.  Ed Sheeran is a genius and can write these types of ballads at the drop of a hat.

  • "Thinking Out Loud" Ed Sheeran

Another wedding ballad banger from Ed.  It’s his other perfect love song that sets the perfect mood at all wedding celebrations.

  • "Crazy In Love", Beyonce feat. Jay-Z

I consider them the top music and celebrity power couple.  It only makes sense for them to have a love song that is also a high-energy wedding banger.

  • "Mr. Brightside", The Killers

This is fun to just yell at the top of your lungs amongst 200 or so people on a reception dance floor.  I thank Cameron Diaz in The Holiday for making it even more of a fun time.

  • "Wannabe", Spice Girls

I was completely surprised that this one made the list!  I credit it to millennials bringing what was probably their favorite song growing up right back to the dance floor at their reception.

  • "Dancing Queen", ABBA

At this point in the night, there shouldn’t be any butts in seats.  Always and forever a wedding playlist classic.
