It’s National Hot Dog Day! June 19 marks a day of celebrating a classic summertime treat. The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council established National Hot Dog Day in 1991. What better way to bring in the day than to get the inside scoop on 5 specialty hot dogs that you can only get here in Augusta, Ga. A sausage dog is also included in the list.

The answer is technically yes. Most of the time we think of a sausage dog as containing pork. Hot dogs are actually a type of sausage! Hot dogs are slimmer parboiled sausages made with ground meat (usually pork, beef, or sometimes chicken).

Enough hotdog history! Here are all the deets on these 5 specialty hot dogs you can only find in Augusta.

• The Munchies Dog

  Location: Munchies Lab

  A Buttery Brioche bun with a bacon wrapped hot dog loaded with home made chili, melted yellow Nacho cheese , sour cream , dice onions & Hot Cheeto dust.

• Carolina Dog

  Location: GreenJackets Stadium – Back Nine Grill

  Beef Dog, Pimiento Cheese, Spicy Sauce, Pulled Pork

• The Oink

  Location: Emma’s Hotdiggity Dog

  Hotdog is topped with smoked pulled pork, grilled onions, BBQ sauce, and coleslaw

• Devil Dog

  Location: Knuckle Sandwhich

  Spicy chicken and pork sausage with jalapeño slaw and a side of Thai Chili Ranch

• Seal Team Dog

  Location: Rally Point Grille

  1/4 lb hot dog on challah bun, topped with sliced avocado, fresh pico de gallo, shredded cheese and chipotle ranch drizzle.
